Ankor Wat – a must see Temple

Angkor Wat is a breath takingly large temple with many more temples and buildings around it. I have spent two days exploring the site as there is so much to see. I went to see the sunset at Angkor Wat, which was nice but because of the clouds not spectacular. The next day my TukTuk driver picked me up at the Garden Guesthouse and drove me to the temples. We had agreed on 10$ for the small tour. The temples are impressive as they are well preseved and have lots of details to explore. The shear size of the complex makes you wonder how the people managed to build this. Tons of stones had been transported from far away to built the temples. It is hard to understand now how it was to build it and also how live was in the finished temples.

Siem Reap the town south of Angkor where I stayed is well prepared for all the tourists wanting to visit the temples. There is a bar street, night market, massage places, shops, etc everywhere. The Garden Guesthouse I stayed at has beds on offer for 1$. These are the Khmer-Style beds, outside but with a roof and a mosquito net. I opted for the 20-bed dorm room that had fans and lockers.

I had a great time in Siem Reap and could have stayed longer but it was time to leave for Bangkok. The bus from Siem Reap to Bangkok was only 10$ and other than the long wait at the border rather comfortable.
