St. Petersburg, the last city before my TransSib adventure

7:55am I arrived in St. Petersburg and made my way to the Admiralty Hostel, which I have seen online but didn’t book the day before. I walked to where I thought the Hotel was. It should have been close to the Hermitage Museum but I couldn’t find it. So I was looking for a cafe with WiFi nearby. I ordered чай (Tea) and they gave me a liter pot of tea, which was clearly too much to drink for one person in a reasonable time. Anyway there I could connect to the internet and look for other hostels in the area. I found the Soul Kitchen Hostel, which turns out was the best hostel on my whole trip so far!

I have met really friendly people there and we have spent some quality time together seeing the city. On the first day we went to Kunstkamera Museum, which has a unique but not-for-the-faint-hearted exhibition of Other than that the museum also houses a photography exhibition and a collection of various things from cultures all over the world. Later that day I met up with a local girl, who showed me the LOFT Project house, that is an art gallery, hostel, bookshop, cafe, co-working space and is just awesome. A creative space.

The highlight ofthe second day in St. Petersburg was the Hermitage museum where we have spent almost four hours and haven’t even seen half of it. Just the building itself with the decorated rooms and pompous staircases was worth a visit. In the evening we went to see the Ballet Swanlanke in the Mikhailovsky Theatre. It was great!

On my last day I went to buy the train tickets to екатеринбург. Also I walked around the Peter’s and Paul Fortress along the river.
