Trip Idea – London to Singapore by Train

First there was a vision and now there is an idea. More precise I know where and how I want to travel this year. In order to document my planning and my trip I have set up this Blog for myself but obviously also for anyone interested in my adventures abroad. I am now doing some research on all the countries and places I want to stop, this involves Visa Requirements for countries, places to see, currency, culture, food, and so on. I will document places and routes on this Blog.

Travel Plans

I plan to travel from London to Singapore by train. It is actually possible to travel from London to Singapore without actually having to take any other method of transportation than a train (with one exception – we’ll get to that in a moment). Starting in London I board the Eurostar to Paris and from there trains through Europe to Moscow. From Moscow I’ll hop on the Trans-Siberian Railway that crosses Siberia and goes up to Vladivostok, however I’ll be doing the Trans-Mongolian and not go up to Vladivostok. After Ulan-Ude in Russia I’ll continue trough Mongolia and China. Then entering South-East-Asia (still all by train). Up to Ho-Chi-Minh City it is possible to do the whole trip by train, then from Vietnam to Cambodia I’ll have to travel by Bus. Cambodia is the only country on my trip that does not have a train connection to it’s neighboring countries. Therefore I’ll have to take a bus from Ho-Chi-Minh City trough Cambodia to the border of Thailand. Of course visiting a great deal of places on the way.

That’s it for now, I’ll start to write down the information I am gathering for my trip. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts.
