Sightseeing and partying in Budapest

Budapest is a very touristic city that has lots to offer. It is well worth spending 3 full days there. It was the only city so far on my trip where I have encountered that many tourists. There are many sights to see any many things to do for tourists, therefore also a lot of tourist-traps to watch out for. Unfortunately scams are common but if you are watch your belongings and don’t fall for the girls that try to get you into a very expensive bar you are safe. So let’s get to the good parts of Budapest as it is really a great place to spend some time.

On my way to Budapest from Zagreb I have already met John and Rafael on the train. We haven’t had a hostel booking so we just went to one Rafael was staying in before. However they didn’t have a bed for us for all the nights. We decided to go the Wombats Hostel, which had more than 1000 (!) good reviews online. Arriving there we quickly understood why. The hostel was by far the biggest one I have ever seen. It is probably a hospital that was converted to a hostel and therefore had lots of rooms, all with their own bathrooms. Although it was huge it was easy to meet people at the hostel bar.

Saturday our first day we spent the morning with the free walking tour. It was a good start and we got an overview pf the city and and insight into Hungarian history. The tour guide was very friendly and happy to show us parks, squares, Royal Palace, Parliament and so on. after the walking tour we decided to go and see the House of Terror (WWII Museum). To be honest I didn’t like the musem because I was not very informativ and the history not very well presented. For me it was not worth the money. I’d recommend to anyone interested in the topic to visit the Upraising Museum in Warszawa instead. I thought this was much better. Next up on our list was the Saturday night pub crawl. This starts at 9pm by the Aqua Bar every night amd sets you back 12€. some drinks are already imcluded so it’s a fair price. We had great fun and went to some awesome places. Also randomly bumped into the guys from Zagreb we have met on the train to Budapest.
